How to Apply and Change Hydrocolloid Bandages

Correct application makes a greater difference than most people expect. Follow these steps to get the full benefit:

  1. Clean the wound gently with saline or mild soap, then pat the surrounding skin dry. The wound bed should be free of debris.
  2. Choose a dressing that overlaps the wound by at least 1–2 cm on all sides.
  3. Warm the dressing in your hands for a few seconds to improve adhesion, then press it firmly from the center outward.
